Artists Detail

This new generation Thai artist has seen overwhelming success with her latest work winning the 11th Benesse Prize at the Singapore Biennale 2016, the holding of exhibitions ‘Time Lapse’ and ‘New Historical Drama’ in Beijing, and at the Asia Pacific Triennial 2018 in Brisbane, Australia. Yodmanee combines her knowledge and expertise in Classical Thai art to contemporary artistic presentations through her bold experiments with new materials and methods. Such mixture causes her works (sculpture and painting) to stand out and differentiate the artist from others of her generation. Yodmanee extends her use of these artistic mediums to large-scale installations whose conceptions are based on beliefs that reflect the connections between the Buddhist philosophy and realities of life, from uncertainties and sorrow to loss, birth and death that prompt the audience to question the ongoing phenomena in the society.
