Zhang Kechun
b. Bazhong, Sichuan province, China
In his project Yellow River (2010-2013), Zhang originally had the concept of searching for the roots of his soul but this later turned into documenting the effects of modernization that took place along the river. Following that, in his next project Between the Mountains and Water (2014-2017), he focuses on the relationship between the people and the land on which they live and work. With tiny human figures in trance-like state set meaningfully against the vast natural landscape, questions arise as to what these people are thinking in such contexts and conditions. Could they be seeking some kind of mental or physical escape from the situation that they are facing?

ในโปรเจ็ค Yellow River ระหว่างปี พ.ศ. 2553-2556 เดิมทีเค่อฉุนมีแนวคิดที่จะค้นหารากเหง้าของจิตวิญญาณของเขา แต่ต่อมาได้กลายเป็นการบันทึกผลกระทบของความทันสมัยที่เกิดขึ้นริมแม่น้ำฮวงโห หลังจากนั้นในโปรเจ็คถัดมา Between the Mountains and Water ระหว่างปี พ.ศ. 2557-2560 เขามุ่งเน้นไปที่ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างผู้คนและผืนดินที่พวกเขาอาศัยและทำงาน ภาพถ่ายที่มีคนตัวเล็กๆ ท่าทางมึนงงตัดกับภูมิทัศน์ธรรมชาติอันกว้างใหญ่ข้างหลังอย่างมีนัยยะ ทำให้เกิดคำถามขึ้นว่าในบริบทและเงื่อนไขดังกล่าวคนเหล่านี้กำลังคิดอะไรอยู่ กำลังมองหาการหลีกหนีทางร่างกายหรือจิตใจจากสถานการณ์ที่กำลังเผชิญอยู่ใช่หรือไม่?
