Pannapan Yodmanee
b. 1988, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand
Pannhapan combines her knowledge and expertise in traditional Thai art with bold experiments with new materials and methods. Pannaphan extends her use of mixed media and large-scale installations that reflect the connections between Buddhist philosophy and art history.
For BAB 2018 at Khao Mor, Wat Pho, Pannaphan’s painted free-standing reliefs are placed delicately to blend with sculptures of contorted hermit figures and Chinese statuettes. Inspired by temple murals full of wisdom, she depicts scenes of Sino-Siamese trade, pilgrimage, mixed faiths and multiple ethnicities.

ปานพรรณทำงานโดยใช้ความรู้ด้านงานไทยประเพณีมาผสมกับการนำเสนอศิลปะแบบร่วมสมัย และในช่วงหลังมานี้ ศิลปินเริ่มขยายสเกลการทำงานขึ้นมาเป็นศิลปะจัดวางขนาดใหญ่ บนแนวคิดที่สะท้อนความเชื่อมโยงระหว่างปรัชญาศาสนาพุทธและประวัติศาสตร์ศิลปะ
ในบางกอก อาร์ต เบียนนาเล่ 2018 งานจิตรกรรมลอยตัวของเธอจะถูกวางเข้าคู่กับรูปปั้นฤาษีดัดตนและตุ๊กตาอับเฉาบริเวณเขามอในวัดโพธิ์ ผลงานชิ้นนี้ได้แรงบันดาลใจมาจากภาพเขียนฝาผนังในวัดแห่งนี้ โดยจะถ่ายทอดภาพการเดินทางติดต่อค้าขายระหว่างสยามและจีน การเดินทางแสวงบุญ ความแตกต่างด้านศรัทธา และชาติพันธุ์
