Manit Sriwanichpoom, a contemporary Thai photographer, graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Srinakharinwirot University in 1984. He has been instrumental in promoting Thai contemporary photography on an international level. Sriwanichpoom is particularly known for his Pink Man series, created two months before the 1997 Tom Yum Kung economic crisis. The series features an obese man in a fluorescent pink suit pushing a matching shopping cart, a humorous and satirical critique of Thai consumerism. Manit has also created numerous other art series that critique politics, society, religion, and tourism. His most recent work, God's Children, critiques the brutal genocidal war waged by the Israeli government against innocent Palestinian children and civilians.
