Pathompon Tesprateep is an artist and filmmaker based in Bangkok. Through cinematic poetry, he explores memory, identity, and the inheritances of personal and collective histories. His works have been presented internationally at film festivals and exhibitions, including Locarno Film Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam, BFI London Film Festival, Biennale Jogja XV, and ACC Gwangju. He is currently developing his debut feature film, Tremble Like A Flower.
Pleng-Krom-Dek (Lullaby) is part of Voids (2019–present), an ongoing film project by Tesprateep. Set in Thailand’s deep south, a Malay-Muslim majority border region historically annexed by the Thai state, the work presents four new renditions of traditional Chehe dialect lullabies. Developed in collaboration with retired teacher, youth-rehabilitation worker, and Chehe dialect conservator Siriporn Thongchinda, the rewritten lyrics reflect on contemporary religious and cultural tensions while drawing on local histories, beliefs, and linguistic traditions. Voids is based on research conducted amid obscured information and fragmented events related to conflicts across regions where the wounds of history remain unresolved in Thailand. Through plural narratives and diverse cultural materials, the project explores how memory, ideology, and historical trauma continue to shape the present.
