Vayupad Ruttanapet was raised by parents who work for the Thai government’s Office of the Traditional Arts. Growing up, he spent much of his childhood sculpting and assisting in the creation of monuments under the guidance of skilled artisans and experts. During his youth, he studied Khon, a traditional Thai performance, at the College of Dramatic Arts. He later pursued sculpture at Silpakorn University, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in 2023. Currently based in Nakhon Pathom, he works as an independent artist while also teaching part-time at Silpakorn University. Ruttanapet’s figurative sculptures combine academic realism with idealized beauty. Drawing inspiration from classical Western art, traditional Thai art, and East Asian mythologies, his work explores the balance between tradition and artistic interpretation, reflecting his deep appreciation for craft and his personal dedication to the discipline of sculpture.
