Channatip Chanvipava is a Thai-British painter of Chinese descent whose autobiographical work translates personal memory into collective narratives. Born in Thailand, he lived in the United Kingdom for two decades, five years in the English countryside and fifteen years in London, and later naturalised as a UK citizen. Self-taught as a painter after studying social sciences at The London School of Economics, Chanvipava works intuitively without preparatory sketches, layering bold brushwork and sculptural textures. He is primarily a painter who also produces painting installations that situate painting within immersive environments. His work explores identity, belonging, resilience and intimacy. Selected exhibitions include: Call Me By My Name (Ames Yavuz, 2025); The Sound of Many Waters (presented by Roman Road, Dimora Ai Santi, 60th Venice Biennale, 2024); Wizards of Omaha (Ronchini Gallery, 2024). He lives and works in Bangkok, Thailand.
