At the recent Bangkok Art Biennale 2024 press conference, we had the privilege of hearing from a group of inspiring artists whose works reflect profound themes of sustainability, community, and the emotional connections that define humanity. Choi Jeong Hwa emphasized that “trash is not the end, but the beginning of real art,” as he researched sustainability for two months for his project. Pokchat Worasab shared her gratitude for working with the Mani tribe in Phatthalung, drawing inspiration from themes of motherhood and goddess figures. Mutmee Pimdao Panichsamai discussed her creative process working with children with Down syndrome to produce three video artworks exploring motherhood, relationships, and self-love. Zul Mahmod presented his sound installation, highlighting the importance of listening to nature and the balance between technology and nature. Haritorn Akarapat revived a 2017 artwork, initially planned for a cemetery, and thanked BAB 2024 for giving it a second life.
